The largest and most booth-filled "Hong Kong Pet Festival 2025" organized by Exhibition Group and sponsored by CSL will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 6 to 9 (Thursday to Sunday). The Exhibition Group held a press conference today to announce the details of the exhibition and released the "Consumption Data and Trend Analysis of Pet Keeping among Hong Kong Households".
After 20 years, the "Hong Kong Pet Festival" is now the largest in scale ever. The exhibition hall No. 3 covers an area of 260,000 square feet, with nearly 400 exhibitors and more than 1,000 booths. It is a large-scale exhibition that brings together the largest number of world-renowned pet food and supplies brands in Hong Kong, and is even likened to the "pet industry trade show". The exhibition allows all pet lovers to bring their pets to the exhibition to enjoy shopping and various exciting activities, and is expected to become an annual event in the pet industry.
On the same day, the Exhibition Group released the "Pet Consumption Data and Trend Analysis of Hong Kong Households". From December last year to January this year, 1,300 members of the public were surveyed through an online questionnaire on pet consumption and other situations. Among them, 1,000 questionnaires were valid. The survey found that the most popular types of pets among Hong Kong people are dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles and birds. 80.1% of the respondents indicated that their pet expenses had increased in the past 12 months, with the average monthly expenditure on pets reaching HK$2,086, an increase of 6.3% from HK$1,962 last year. The pet industry market size is expected to reach HK$6.2 billion. The proportion of people who spend $1,501 to $2,500 per month on their pets increased from 27.5% to 32.4%. 79.1% of respondents expect feeding expenses to increase in the next 6 to 12 months, and more than half of the respondents said that expenses will increase by more than 10%.
Ms. Suet Ling Chu, General Manager of Exhibition Group Limited, said: “The monthly pet market size reaches HK$520 million, and exceeds HK$6.2 billion per year. Hong Kong Pet Festival 2025 is the first large-scale public expo after the Year of the Snake. This year marks its 20th anniversary and is even larger than previous years. For the first time, it will run through the entire Exhibition Hall 3 to meet market demand.” With the popularization of pet keeping, market demand has driven the diversified development of pet-related industries, covering food, supplies, beauty care, medical care, tourism and cultural and creative industries. Among them, cultural and creative trendy toys have become an emerging trend. In order to keep up with the market enthusiasm, an international pet cultural and creative trendy toy area was added for the first time this year to promote the diversified development of pet culture.
